Happy Birthday!!

My little Tyler turned 3 this weekend!!!

and HEY! a picture of me where I don't look fat anymore! too bad Tyler is trying to get away from me.

THERE we go. Mommy and baby little boy.
AND I got into a pair of my size 4 shorts!

They are still a little snug, and I can't get the denim ones on yet, but it's getting there and the clothing possibilities are very exciting!

Goal of hitting 126.0 pounds by this saturday! good thing the birthday cake is gone.

some nice comfy wedges to wear with jeans or a skirt.

and buh-BAM!

How are those babies a bad thing??

Can't wait to rock those out this next week.

Oh, and I suppose I'll be working on losing those last 8 pounds. So my jeans fit again.

the hunger

Before I got pregnant with Ryan, I was ramping up my biking because I wanted to be faster. I started doing speedwork in my running and was gaining traction as I tried to be a "real" runner. I've done multiple 5K's, one 10K, 2 sprint triathlons, and a half marathon - but I still don't consider myself a "runner".  I think "runner" and I think fast. Those legs. people who can run a mile in 5 minutes. 6 minutes. who can hold a 7 minute mile pace for a marathon. I can't even hold a 7 minute mile pace for ONE mile.

I want so much to be faster. If I could hold an 8 minute mile for a 5K I would be thrilled beyond belief. You'd see me dancing in the rain naked. (or maybe not)

don't get me wrong, I'm super proud that I ran 7 miles the other day when 3 years ago I couldn't even run 1/2 mile without wheezing and clutching my chest in agony. but I want MORE!

In my effort to stick my chest out and call myself a RUNNER, I did what needed to be done. speedwork. solid base. more speedwork. did I mention speedwork? And chasing right behind the intense effort and mileage back then, THE HUNGER hit me. You know what I'm talking about. That deep starvation that is almost insatiable. Eat 500 calories for breakfast high in protein and fiber and STARVING 35 minutes later. I just couldn't eat enough!

I haven't had that problem since getting pregnant and having a baby and stuff. But now? I'm up to 7 mile long runs on friday's and a 25-30 mile bike ride on saturdays and the hunger is back. That CRAZY hungry monster. Which must be tamed because I still have 8 pounds to lose. I ate SO much this weekend that I gained a pound. blah.

Control the hunger.

Beat the hunger.

BTW, how many calories should I eat on days I'm burning 800-1200 calories through exercise?

Saddle sore

On Saturday I rode my bike 30 miles.

The longest I've gone in well over a year.

I did it in 1 hour and 48 minutes which is just shy of averaging 17 mph. I am SO happy with that. And I gotta say, my butt hurts REALLY bad now. In a good way.

The scenery is really nice. This is in a state park just 7 miles from my house.

And then I ate myself into an oblivion since it was my cheat day.

5 quickies

1. So as I was waiting in line at Walmart (evil) on a friday night with only 2 registers open, I had to spend some time checking out the "As seen on TV" merchandise.

And I am baffled that people actually buy things like this:

And did you check the price?? $40!!

2. I was SO tempted to buy these little goodies. But I didn't.

Can you say heaven in a wrapper??

3. And check out the ridiculousness on the back of this .74 preztel M&M's package.

Serving size - 1/2 pack?! What up with that? Who eats half the tiny little package and goes, "well, I'm stuffed from that serving, I guess I'll save the rest for later!"

5. I retried the Larabar with a different flavor - Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip.

And guess what.

It was totally yummy! I guess I was just eating nasty flavors before. So this yummy flavor will now be part of my repertoire of on the go snacks.

Good and Bad

Good news!

I FINALLY found a "green" smoothie recipe that is delicious!

It's seriously like a smoothie. (recipe at the bottom)

Bad news: I ate 2 strawberry crepes and 2 brownies last night right before bed.

Good news: I didn't gain any weight because of it and don't feel the need for it anymore!

Bad news: I slept in this morning and didn't get my workout in.

Good news: I don't feel tired and I'll ride my trainer this afternoon!

Bad news: It is SO humid and I sweated all night with my ceiling fan blowing full blast.

Good news: I have a hair appointment today for a cut and color. (first time in 6 months!)

Bad news: Both my son and daughter peed the bed last night. Lots of laundry today.

Good news: My husband is only a couple days away from being done with this semester of his Master's degree. He will have a month off before next semester!! yeah!!!

Side note - if you type the word "news" a lot, it starts to look really weird.

1 Cup of frozen strawberries (other berries will work too, or peaches)
1 cup water (if looking for lower calories) or skim milk (for a full meal replacement)
2 scoops vanilla protein powder (mine has 140 calories and 15 grams of protein)
big handful spinach.

blend, blend, blend.

1 serving of YUMMY strawberry milkshake tasting protein shake.
~200 calories with water.
~300 calories with milk.

and hey, I don't gag and I'm not hungry an hour later!!! Plus, since it's getting hot and humid, it's the PERFECT refueling drink when I'm done running since it's nice and COLD.

Don't forget to enter my GIVEAWAY for some racing fuel!

I did it!!!!!

I am below 130!!!! and no I am not naked in that picture, I had running shorts on. ;) Other people are even starting to comment that my clothes are looking loose on me!!

To celebrate the hot bod coming back to me, I am giving away a little pack of goodies in the form of Gu and Gel.

Check it out:

Nice camera skillz, right? My iphone doesn't disappoint!

Included are 2 Espresso love (2x caffeine) Gu's, 2 strawberry banana(no caffeine) Gu's, and ONE raspberry Hammer Gel.

I love the Gu brand since most of them taste pretty yummy and are easy to get down. I love the caffeinated ones since I normally don't ingest caffeine (no coffee, no soda, very little chocolate, etc) and they really give me a boost. Plus, they are easy to stuff into a sports bra for races and stuff.

How to enter?? (please use a separate comment for each entry)

  • follow this blog (required)
  • tell me your favorite Gu or gel flavor. -mine is mint chocolate!- (required)
  • Tweet, facebook, or post on your blog about the giveaway. (optional, separate entry for each)
That's up to FIVE entries you can get and since I only have 17 followers - hi guys! - your chances are pretty stinking good!

You may enter starting now and up to May 6th. I'll announce the winner on May 7th here on the blog.

I was not endorsed by any company and paid for the items out of my own pocket. The opinions are my own, but I may be influenced by free products in the future. ;)
