There are just no words

There is something seriously wrong with this picture.

I'm sad to say that there is no soccer ball under my shirt. It's all me. It hurts me to look at it.

At this point I'm nervous to sneeze because I might create a stretch mark if I sneeze too hard. 38 weeks. (and baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead)  Can you tell why it's hard to walk and jogging in any way, shape, or form causes insane pains to shoot under my tummy?

Happy new year!

2012 is my year

Goals for next year. I'm not one of those crazy people who say things like, I want to race a 5K and break 22 minutes when my PR is 28:02. That's just insane.

However, that's one of my end goals. Like, ONE DAY I could do that. But I like to set my goals into baby steps and feel successful and go up the ladder one rung at a time. I'm still disappointed that at my half marathon I didn't get 2:10. Okay, I got 2:11 at my FIRST one and it was a pretty hilly course and whatever, blah, blah, blah. But I set a goal for myself and didn't get it. That makes me sad. Could I have given any more than I did at the time? No. I laid it all on the course and I'm proud of that but I didn't get my goal.

So here are my realistic goals for 2012...

  • Run a 5K under 27:30 (8:50 pace)
  • Have a baby. (hahaha)
  • Get down to my "happy weight"at 122 pounds.
  • Biking speed averaging 18 mph.
  • Do an olympic distance triathlon. no time goal although I would LIKE to break 3 hours.
  • Complete my marathon in under 4:30.
  • Find another 10K and break 58 minutes.
  • Run 800 miles for the year. I probably won't be able to start anything until February 1st and I'll be starting slow, so I want this one to be really doable. If I take out January, that's 72 miles a month which is still more than I've ever done before.
Alright 2012 - bring it.

2011 in review

Here were my original goals for 2011 and how I did:

  • Run a mile in 7 minutes flat. - NOPE.
  • Run a 5K under 27:30 (8:50 pace) - NOPE.
  • Run a marathon under 4:30 (4:15 is better) - NOPE. No race because of bed rest and pregnancy.
  • Get my biking speed to 17mph average - Achieved in march.
  • do a 100K bike ride - NOPE.
  • Shave 6 minutes off Blackland triathlon time (this is a lofty goal) - no race because of bed rest.
  • no sweets except for my one cheat day a week. After this holiday, I don't even WANT sweets. - HAHAHA!!
  • wear a swimsuit with confidence - I want an awesome butt. Also a lofty goal after 3 kids and turning 30 this year!! - Achieved.
  • run 1000 miles. I'm not even sure if I can do this one. Hopefully the marathon training will help with this. - Bed rest and pregnancy killed this.
Do I feel bad about only getting 2 of my 9 goals? NO. Because with an unexpected baby on the way and the blood clot that restricted most of my exercise goals, this list fell to the back burner as I kept my baby healthy.

You can guarantee that you will see several of these goals re-appear for 2012. And trust me, there will be no more surprise babies. There are ways you can be SURE that won't happen again. ;)

My view is blocked.

Dr. appointment today.

You know what I learned? It's really hard to give a urine sample as a female since you can't always predict where the stream is going to go. BUT, when your belly blocks everything from view, you are pretty much guaranteed to get pee on your hand. good times.

I am over my "goal" number of what I wanted to gain for this pregnancy. I blame Christmas goodies. sitting at 154.6 pounds with 2-ish weeks to go. I am beyond excited to start really exercising again.

I am dilated to 2 cm right now. I have a feeling I won't be having a december baby. darn it.

January it is!

Fun presents!

Ever since I changed my lifestyle to include being a "runner" (still not sure if I can qualify for that right now since I'm not running), getting workout stuff is the BEST at Christmas and birthday's.

Here are my new tops:

All on clearance! We just got an Under Armor outlet store and that green top was $7!

A camelbak! I was considering one of these for marathon training and my husband TOTALLY surprised me with this one. I even love the color.

After 3 kids using that ugly, lame, cheap diaper bag that comes home with you from the hospital, I really wanted a REAL diaper bag. So Dave bought me this suede grey and blue one. LOVE. Look how huge it is! I can fit so much crap into that enormous bag!

New sunglasses! My awesome ones have had the lenses lost for months and so I've been using a pair of dollar store glasses that are half broken. These are GREAT. They are so light and comfy and I can't wait to start using them on runs and biking.

What did YOU get for Christmas this year?

Merry Christmas!!

Here is a great little video depicting the real reason we celebrate Christmas, based on the King James version of the bible.

We watched it with our kids and we all loved it.

Enjoy the video and your families this holiday season!

Kara reads my mind.

On page 250 of Running for Women, I found a quote that sums up this pregnancy better than anything I've heard or read yet.

"The plan was to do xyz, but I was going slower and slower until I was barely xyz'ing. It was so frustrating. I cried afterwards. I couldn't believe that I couldn't just push through, but that's the way it is - your body just won't let you do it...it was so difficult for me to accept this."

I obviously inserted the xyz stuff since her times don't really apply to me, but after 2 sessions of bed rest when I felt fine, to starting from scratch working out after 2 months of nothing, to getting stabbing pains in my belly when I did anything to stopping exercise completely at 34 weeks pregnant since I'm getting 6-7 contractions an hour and I'm supposed to "take it easy".

It's been tough to accept all that I've been dealt the last 8 months or so. Good news is that I only have about 3 weeks to go and then I can get started with trying to feel like myself again. That's right! In less than a month it will all be over and mission: hot bod after baby will commence.

Bookworm

I started reading a new book today.

I love it! Reading this even made me get out my calendar and plan my training for my March 5K! I can't WAIT until I can get back out there and start feeling like myself. There is just something about the last month of pregnancy that makes you feel like your body is not your own and you have no control over anything.

only 4 more weeks...

I see an Oly in the distance!

So, news to everyone that follows me (hello 13 readers), my family is MOVING from Texas to North Carolina!!!!!  We will be heading out very shortly after I have this baby (January). We will be leaving in February. I think we are indeed crazy. Selling the house, having a baby, and starting a new job all at the same time.

Anyway, since I wanted to have a 5K to look forward to and to have something to train for, I started looking to see if there was an event or 2 in my new area.

I found some!!!!

I know it's still the middle of december and it might be a little early to start planning 2012 races, but here it is anyway:

March 24 - Live Long 5K (5 1/2 weeks after arriving at new house/2 month old baby)

September 22 - Outer Banks Olympic Triathlon (8 month old baby)

November 14 - Fort Worth Marathon (10 month old baby/flying back to dallas for this)

I know there isn't a lot on this list, but for having a baby and being in a new place, it gives me stepping stones to work on.

I LOVE having something to train for! YAY!

ch-ch-ch-changes!!

No, I'm not trying to cover up my chest in this picture.

I'm telling you how many weeks I have left to go!

FIVE, baby!

And that's if I go on time. I'm really hoping that since the baby is measuring big (as if you can't tell by the size of my tummy), I'll be a little early. Like sometime in december.

Just to remind you of what I NORMALLY look like...

So you can see why I feel enormous.

My buddy in the picture above is training for a marathon PR right now using the Run Less Run Faster book training plan. She desperately wants to break 4 hours and just KILLED a 20 mile run at a 9 minute mile pace. Her best ever. Color me green. It's getting SO hard to read everyone's blogs about races and running and training and everything since I can't even WALK anymore. I'm trying to be patient but with only about a month left I'm getting very antsy to be back to my normal self again.

To ease my pain, since my mom gave me some $$ for my birthday, I bought myself a present to look forward to:

How awesome are THOSE babies?! and the best part?? From runningwarehouse.com (seriously my favorite store), they were only $14 and free shipping! (only size med and large left)

Dr. appointment tomorrow and hanging in there!
